What a fantastic day for the annual Godstone Summer Fete. The weather was kind, people came in their hundreds and we all had a great day. Godstone Gardeners’ Club took a stand this year for the first time. We thought long and hard about what to do. Should we sell plants? Should we put on a display of our produce? What could we do that would be different?
Our aim was not to sell anything, the club does other things to raise money. Our aim was to attract some new members, but how to do it? In the end we decided to put on a show. We decided on a ‘pop-up’ garden. We printed a backdrop, grew some plants and, on the day, built some raised beds, installed a picket fence, laid a path and erected a banner. It seems that it was quite popular. From the comments we heard and some very kind compliments, we think it went down pretty well! We’re pretty pleased and we hope we have attracted a few new members who will come to a meeting over the next few months. There’s a few photos below. We hope you enjoy them!
