Hob nobs are delicious. There is nothing quite like a fresh hob nob. This recipe is absolutely irresistable and really easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 150g Caster Sugar
  • 150g Self Raising Flour
  • 120g Oats (porridge or rolled oats)
  • ½ tsp Baking Powder
  • 150g Butter
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 2 tbsp Golden Syrup

Preparation Method

  1. In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar until light and creamy. We use a mixer but you can do this by hand if you would prefer
  2. Add the milk and golden syrup and mix into the mixture well
  3. Sieve the flour and baking powder into the bowl and fold in gently with a metal spoon
  4. Add the oats, fold in with the metal spoon and then place the entire mixture into the fridge for at least half an hour
  5. When ready to cook, heat the oven to 150°C, Gas Mark 2
  6. When the oven is hot, make the mixture into little balls (just a bit smaller than a golf ball) and place on a baking tray lined with baking parchment about 5cm apart. The balls will spread when cooked.
  7. When the tray is full cook the biscuits for 25 minutes and then check for colour. This process cannot be rushed as it will just result in burnt biscuits
  8. When cooked leave on the baking tray for 10 minutes to start to cool and then transfer to a cooling rack.
  9. Once completely cool, store in an airtight container and eat within a week.
