2020 has proven to be a somewhat different year to those we all remember. COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on the horticultural industry and ‘lockdown’ has meant that physical shows are not possible to hold. Club meetings have had to be cancelled and the opportunity to meet and share our gardening experiences, good and bad, haven’t been there. But we aren’t quite beaten yet!
Godstone Gardeners’ Club will hold a show this year, albeit a virtual one! So, how will this work? The schedule for the show is below. Anyone, club member or not, can enter this show by submitting a photo in any of the classes listed (only one entry per person in each class) to the special email address: showtime@godstonegardeners.net. Photos must be submitted by 6pm on Friday 4th September and must have been taken this year – please ensure that the class number that your entry is for is clear.
All photos submitted for the show will be displayed on the Godstone Gardeners’ website from Sunday 6th September to Saturday 12th September. Anyone, and everyone, can vote for their favourite exhibit in each class. Only one vote per class will be possible for each person voting. The exhibit with the maximum number of votes when the show closes at 4pm on Saturday 12th September will be the winner in that class.
This year’s show is NOT an RHS show and is not being judged to RHS standards. The show is intended to allow members of the club and anyone else who is interested to come together (albeit virtually) and share their successes in gardening during this very unusual set of circumstances. Visitors to the show can engage and interact with it and will know that their vote matters!
If you want to jump straight to the entries, you can do that here.
