Now this may be stretching things a little to list a garden in France, but many of us do visit France from time to time. Les Jardins de Lianes is a garden in a tiny village called Cheriennes which is near to Crécy en Ponthieu, (of the famous battle in 1346 near the beginning of the 100 year war), a little less than 90 minutes drive from Calais. Visited recently by Bren, Cathy, Richard and Alex, it is actually a private garden that is opened to the public for visits. With an entrance price of €5, the ticket entitles you to visit as many times as you like within a year! The garden itself is a fantastic mixture of hidden pathways, seating areas and displays. The gardens host more than 450 varieties of rose and over 300 varieties of hydrangea, (including numerous Japanese cultivars), amongst many, many other plants. There are some fabulous gardens to visit in Northern France, (as well as elsewhere in the country), but Les Jardins de Lianes must be up there with the best of them!! If you are visiting Northern France then this is a garden well worth a visit.
